I know in other industries, there will be trade publications that publish production volumes on a regular basis. For example, if you are interested in pickup trucks, you can find how many F150's, Silverados, Tundras, etc. were sold for the year.
I found the BATF report for the number of firearms manufactured by company, listed here: http://www.atf.gov/statistics/download/afmer/2008-firearms-manufacturers-export-report.pdf
For example, it lists Kel-Tec as producing 17,585 pistols, Kimber made 62,603, etc.
That report basically lists domestic production only.
Does anyone know where I can find a report of firearm imports by company? For example, Springfield Armory imports all the XD's. The first report that lists SA as manufacturing 10,878 domestic pistols severely understates the actual number of pistols unless I can find an import report.
