Fired my new P7 today. It did beautifully. I can't tell you much about the accuracy because frankly I just don't shoot for accuracy. I'm interested in Minute of Badguy from 30 feet or less. But I am interested in reliability, pointability, safety, & ease of use. And I can tell you I really like it.

I realize this is not much of a range report, but I'll be happy to tell anything you wanna know about it. Also, while the pictures may make the gun appear to be nickel or stainless, it's black like the grips.

Fine selection

You got yourself a fine piece bud! I LOVE my P7, bought mine through Cody at CDNN. The local dealers were totally enraged that I could get one of these babies so cheap.

I actually needed help finding an FFL willing to do the transfer for me. Had one tell me, "ok" then they realized it was from CDNN then said "we can't".....

I'm looking to get another one while the price is so low and the pistols are still available. My first P7 has proven itself reliable enough for me to carry it daily as my primary CCW.

Enjoy!!

Excellent, and welcome to the club. Nice handguns. It is a pity they are on longer made.

Here's my first Lower Saxony Police import (CDNN)HK P7

The only problem I've found with the HK P7 is they are like Lays potato chips.:banghead:

All three "A" grades.. Two came "like new", one came NIB..

You should consider starting. You're now the proud owner of one of the most inherently accurate pistols ever manufactured.

Congrats on the P7. That will be my next handgun purchase. Saving for a 9mm AR build right now. But after that it will be the P7.

FWIW:

Here's what got me into buying three P7's instead of just one.

This photo is of the results of the first mag. fired through my first HK P7.

The target was shot from only 7 yards, two hands, and I was resting my arm on the back of a golf cart for stability. I was only looking for poi vs poa to determine what adjustments might be necessary for windage/elevation.. None were..

I'm 65 years old, shaky hands, declining vision.. I'm just an average marksman, and a younger person with steady hands and good sight would have blown the bullseye out of the target.

I have owned a pile of firearms in my over 50 years of firearms ownership, but NEVER had more more inherently accurate than the HK P7.

Getcha' one... You won't be disappointed.

Best Wishes,

Jesse

Jesse I've seen these pictures in your posts in other threads. Your posts are part of the reason I wound up committing and buying the P7. You clearly are sold on it and I certainly enjoyed my outing to the range Friday. My P7 is sitting next to me right now on the couch.

Any advice or warnings to a guy with a new one? What carry rig do you use (if you ccw the thing)?

Congratulations on picking up a P7.. I think you will find you are the owner, proud owner actually, of one of the absolute best 9mm pistols ever manufactured..

IMO the HK P7 is one of the few pistols that is absolutely unique.. Unique, and a classic..

I have been cc (w/permit) since 1966. I've had a pretty good sampling of most common 9mm pistols over that time. I have boiled down my cc 9mm pistols to two, but also have a preference in revolvers, and mouseguns..

I ALWAYS cc my LWS32 in a rear pocket (wallet style) holster, and even when I'm carrying one of my other choices I STILL have the LWS32 with me. I've NEVER found a more reliable, easier to carry concealed, painlessly, firearm than the diminutive Seecamp. (I use Speer Gold Dots jhp'sfor a carry round) Somewhere down the road if you have any interest please check them out. (www.seecamp.com)

The Seecamp forum extended family consists of some of the finest gun folks I've ever been privileged to have an online association with. Stop by and visit with us sometime.

I do have an LWS380 on order, and it's due in a month or two, so it may or may not replace the LWS32 for daily cc.. I'll need to shoot the LWS32 & LWS380 "head to head" to decide a preference.

Sometimes I'm simply in a "revolver" mood, and when that happens I have a very nice S&W Airweight Bodyguard. This revolver is extremely light, has a fantastic target trigger, and is 100% reliable. (If such a thing is possible.). My J-frame has Crimson Trace Lasergrips and is a tack driver at self defense range. I think a J-frame S&W, or D-frame Colt Cobra, or DS is always a good choice, particularly for those folks who seldom carry, or practice..

My primary cc weapon for years has been a 9mm pistol of one sort or another. This started about 13 years ago when I bought my first S&W3913, then morphed over into Glock 26's, Sig P239's, Walther P99c/AS, and now, depending on circumstances, either a Walther PPS (very light/thin), and my HK P7's. My preferred carry round in my 9mm pistols is the fine "DoubleTap" 115gn jhp..

I'm like you, new to the HK P7 party, but I have rapidly gained an appreciation for the fine "squeezecocker" that amazes even me. The unbelievable inherent accuracy of the P7, and the overall quality "feel" of the pistol always impresses me.

Just such a small detail as the satisfying "click" when the mag locks in the mag well is impressive. Like a vault door closing. I have other, very good 9mm pistols, but none with such a "quality" lock-up of the mag, in fact some of them you have to double-check to make sure your mag. has seated properly.. No problem with the HK P7...

As for holsters for the P7, I have had very good luck with the products of FIST Holster Co. I prefer the extremely thin Kylex holsters, and that's what the photo shows for my P7 & J frame.

I got my FIST iwb for the P7 BEFORE I learned about the potential for slide wear from holster use which might be a greater concern with the P7 than some pistols, so I would recommend FIST holsters, I like 'em, but I would go with a leather, not Kydex just to reduce potential slide wear. My understanding is that any holster made by FIST in Kydex is also available in leather.

Don't know if you were able to pick up a couple of spare mags for your P7, but if you didn't I recommend you do at first opportunity.

Best Wishes, and good shooting!:D:D

Be gentle when cleaning the gas piston. Don't scrape or pick it. It is fine to have some carbon on it.

Clean the gas tube as well as possible. The brush provided and a good carbon cutter work well.

Use a very little bit of lube on the piston, none in the tube.

Be sure the gas hole is clear in the bottom, front of the chamber.

Be careful taking the grip panels off, as they have a lip along the rear edge.

Put the grip panels back on before the slide goes on.

That's all I can think of at the moment. Otherwise treat like any other pistol.

USP9 your advice is a little over my head right now, but I will certainly heed it when I detail-strip the piece. Thanks.

Jesse, I've actually CCW'd for about a dozen years myself. And I think it's funny you recommend the Fist kydex holsters. If you do a search on here, you will read my singing their praises myself. I have bought so many of them that I now get their highest-tier discount. Thanks for the insight.
