Hello Everyone.

I just got my Colt Government XSE on Monday, Since all my local ranges and shops are closed on Monday, I had to wait to shoot her until today.

I used 300 rounds of Winchester White Box 100 round value packs.

The Good:
  • Excellent Trigger Pull, Better than any of my current pistols.
  • Slide to Frame fit was perfect, not too "tight" it also wasn’t loose.
  • Accuracy is Dead On, perfect, I don’t have a rest to really test the accuracy right now, but it was shooting better than my CZ75. I will say 5" groups at about 22yards
  • The white dots on the sights bump out, instead of a resessed easy to clean the powder residue off.
  • No feeding problems, after I fixed the magazine. *See Below

The Bad:
#1 On one of my magazines, on the final round the slide would hold open, and the round would be sitting in the chamber free to jiggle around. (Happened on round 8 & 24, same magazine, final round in the magazine)

#2 The socket screw that holds the back sight in place, unscrewed itself, I didn’t notice until my shots were no longer going where I wanted them, and the sight was moving left & right.

The Fix:
#1 I compared my two magazines, on the one that was giving me the problem, the piece that engages the slide stop, was too far from the piece that the bullet rests on. I just used my fingers to squeeze them closer, and that fixed the problem.

#2 An "allen wrench", and some blue Loctite + a 20 minutes wait for it to set.

Overall I am very happy, and relieved, after hearing about soo many problems that 1911's can have.

I have enjoyed mine for almost 2 years now, and have never had a failure of any kind. The rear sight on mine is the older blade style and has worked well for me. I have done a little pollishing on the trigger, and that helped reduce the pull weight, but it still has a very slight amount of creep. I think that Colt has done a great job on the XSE models.

Lemme guess...8-round mag? When it happens again, sing out. ;)

Last time I tried Winchester white box .45 ACP 230 gr. ball, it shot like ammo that failed lot acceptance testing for accuracy. It was pretty bad in several accurate guns. Consider trying more accurate ammo for a more definative accuracy test of your new gun.
Best mags are Wilson. I have several 7 shot, a bunch of 8 shot and a bunch of 10 shot. Although the 10 shot mags work fine, I like them the least due to weight and length. The Wilson 7 and 8 work fine with all loads I have tried.
I didn't know what a 1911 XSE was, so I looked it up. Looks good. Does it have a solid or collet barrel bushing? If it has a collet bushing, consider replacing it with a solid bushing. Also consider a buffer to reduce battering of the slide and frame. I replace my recoil spring with an 18 lb. spring. That partly depends on how hard you hold.

Im going back to the range today.

1911tuner: I am at round 316, and that only happend twice so far. I will keep my fingers crossed. (And yes they are 8 rounders)

**DELETED**.

Originally I thought you ment the spring plug for some reason.... Since its hollow unlike the EdBrown plug, that is closed off and textured.

Its a solid barrel bushing that rotates out. (Sorry for the NEWB confusion)

I now have a printed Diagram of what every part and piece is called now as to not keep making my self look like a complete moron.

I didn't think they still made or sold collet bushings for quite a long time now!
