Dallas Owner Moves Yacht After Complaints Over 'Go Mavs' Sign

MIAMI -- Competition is brewing between prominent Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks fans as the NBA Finals continue.

The Miami Heat briefly silenced Dallas fans Tuesday night in a last-second victory in game 3 of the best-of-seven series.

"Once I saw Shaq on the floor fighting for that rebound, I knew we were going to do it," said Miami City Manager Joe Arriola, who is one of the Heat's most vocal fans.

Before the game, Arriola and other Heat fans got riled up over a sign displayed by Maverick's owner Mark Cuban.

Cuban docked his yacht next to the American Airlines Arena and posted a large "Go Mavs" banner on the yacht.

"I got a call from the Heat about 3 o'clock, saying, 'You won't believe what this guy did,'" Arriola said. "I sent my folks out there and I was ready to go with Chief (John) Timoney to tear it down myself."

Miami police and code enforcement inspectors told Cuban if the sign didn't come down, the yacht would lose its permit to dock.

"They're not going to have the sign. They're not coming to our town and putting up the sign 'Go Mavs.' I don't know what's wrong with Mark Cuban, but we're not going to let him get away with that," Arriola said.

NBC 6 cameras saw Cuban's yacht, Utopia II, pulling away from the AAA on Wednesday.

Dallas leads the series against Miami, 2-1.

Mark should just plaster the side of the yaught with the logo in even larger letters LOL! That way, it wouldn't be a "sign".

Shame on that crybaby city manager...when the Heat loses the series, Mark could then cruise up and down the waterfront all day long with "HOW DO YA LIKE ME NOW" on both sides...

I hope he just anchors it near the arena and use the run-about to go to shore when needed.

I like Mark Cuban alot. I was pulling for the Mavs until Jerry Stackhouse blindsided Shaquille last night. That kind of ticked me off.

Yeah, the police really have nothing better to do in Miami other than enforce the city's "code" about signs on a boat.

The team owner can't park his boat there with a fan sign on it?

I suppose they won't allow Mavs fans to park their cars on city streets either, unless they remove all fan stickers, flags, etc?

Personally, I think he should sue the city for restraint of trade. Or maybe just get on TV and tell everyone that the only reason they made him move is because he's Cuban. Turn up the heat a bit.

I was actually kinda scared for Stackhouse. Thought he was going to be the first basketball casualty I have seen on TV.
