Well, I popped my AR cherry today. Picked up a Rock River LR15 Elite Operator 2. I had a cheap BSA red dot laying around so I mounted it up and it worked like a charm. Co-witnesses perfectly with the irons. I didn't have too much time to shoot today so I just got it dead balls on at 25 yards with that red dot.

This is RRA's stock photo of it.

It looks a little different then mine since mine had to be "Jerseyfied". Pinned stock, welded muzzlebreak, no bayonet lug and we can only have 10 round mags.

Nice rifle. I ordered an AR about 4 weeks ago, getting anxious. Not my first but haven't owned one for several years now. At least you got out put a few rounds through.

Unfortunately it's tough to order one here because of SSRNJ's nonsense weapons ban criteria. I don't think I ended up paying too much more then if I ordered it straight from RRA, but probably a little.

I was pleasantly surprised how smooth it shot and also pretty happy with the ease of which the irons and red dot sighted in. I know I can bet better, but I was only shooting off hand so it's limited.

I mostly shoot on a private farm where my dad and I hunt. I looked around a little for ranges/clubs but that starts to get really expensive real fast. Any suggestions would be more then welcome!

Nice! I have the same rifle. I have put about 500-600 rounds through her and she functions flawlessly. I hope to get out soon to zero my new red dot. I am very pleased with my RRA AR!:D

When I worked at Rays Sport Shop a lot of guys went to Cherry Ridge. I always heard good things. It's too far north for me though. I live right between Princeton and Bridgewater.

Toad, Thanks for the link!! I will need many, many more mags.

Umm, not to rain on the parade, but that rifle does not look like it will pass NJ's laws. Even though you managed to dodge NJ's "ban by name" laws, they have further laws which define exactly what an assault weapon. Since your rifle can accept a detachable magazine, it can have no more than one of the following features:

1)folding or telescoping stock
2)pistol grip
3)bayonet mount
4)flash suppressor or threaded barrel capable of accepting a flash suppressor
5)grenade launcher

Assuming that's a bayonet lug hanging under your barrel, and that your stock isn't permanently pinned, that rifle has three named features and thus is solidly in illegal territory...

Read the original post again. His AR is NJ legal. The stock photo from Rock River Arms shows the model he bought before post-ban configuration.

oops I read the whole post but missed that line below the pic. He sneaked it in there! Hope you enjoy your rifle.
