First "Big Bore" Revolver Purchase?

.455 Webley faced off for ½ Moon clips or Auto Rim. Paid $35 for it in 1969 and later learned that I paid too much. :what:

I bought it because of an article in the 1968 Guns & Ammo Annual about surplus handguns. It described the Webley as a "big homely ungainly revolver that shoots big homely ungainly bullets" I was hooked! :D

which was first?

Well I just can't remember any more which was first, but one was a second Generation Colt SSA in 45, I remember paying $285 NIB ( the box and reciept is around somewhere). The other was a Model 58 S&W blue, seems I paid around $250 (ish) for it, the leather ( S&W) and a matching set of SW rosewood grips. There were many guns after but these two originals have been mine since day one, seems I bought one right one my 18th birthday or days after ( legal then).

1991
.41 magnum blackhawk 4 5/8", with red dot sight, mounts, extra set of grips (Uncle mikes' still on there...), and hardcase for $300.00 OTD.
Didn't buy a gun for several years after that, too busy reloading on a single stage press!!

My first? A Sauer 44 Magnum with 5.5" barrel and rosewood grips. I have Colt 1911s and I currently compete in CAS with Ruger Vaqueros in 44-40. I like 44s!

S&W Model 624 with 4" bbl. Very good shooter -- nice trigger and very accurate. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the all-black sights and the cost of the ammo. Doesn't get fired as much as it deserves to.
