RRA upper, wilson hvy barrel, cut by adco to 14.5", and w/1.5" permanant brake, 16" OAL. Double star forged lower, full stock, flatop, ATN ultra sight, GG&G flip-up reat, Fobus pistol grip. A4 mid length.

How does this sound for my fisrt AR-15?

Any tips, sites, ect would be great. I want some ss109/M855 ammo, or some M193 ammo. Thanx

:) Excellent!

Most .223/5.56x45 owners here seem to prefer the M193 (55-gr) for AR's with shorter barrels. SS109/M855 doesn't seem to get enough velocity out of a short tube.

On the flip side of the (admittedly weird) .223 scecne, consider the heavy 77gr Black Hills SMK load.

It's slower, but fragments all the way down to 2100fps. (which is for about 200meters out of an M4.)

Special Forces of various sorts are using a 5.56mm (specifically designated Mk 262 Mod 1) out of their M4s for more effective range withought doing anything else.

You will want a 1:9 twist barrel to shoot the heavier SMK load. (a 1:7 might be even better.)

I want some ss109/M855 ammo, or some M193 ammo.

The SS109/M855 ammo costs more, performs less consistently than the M193 on terminal performance, and some ranges prohibit it because of the steel penetrator.

For plinking or practice ammo, the M193 is hard to beat. The only place SS109 seems to have an edge is in midrange shooting out past 200yds.
