Well gents, im back at school for the first time in 3 years, and having one of those dreams where you wake up naked. Figuratively that is. For the first day in over 3 years i don't have a firearm with in miles of me. And i am madder than hell:cuss:. I hate the feeling of depending on others to "protect" me... For those of you in Ga, will campus police departments hold personal firearms while you are on campus or do i just have to leave it at the house? I would be willing to deal with dropping it off there while im at class. Hell i can't even leave it in my truck while im here....

Best thing to do is visit the campus police and ask. May not want to speak with a secretary. May be better to speak to the person who will lock up the guns for you.
There may be a campus website that will answer your question, too. Might try a search.

What school?

Also, good thing you are going back, see if they will teach you to spell College! (Just kidding. Best of luck.)

Where I went to school we had a school supported gun club but a no firearms on campus rule. The president of the club lived in a house off campus and had a few gun safes that were passed down through the club. If you lived on campus you could store your guns in one of his safes.

Check to see if there is a club associated with the school and they will likely know a little more about the situation.

Hardhit-I would suggest you check out GeorgiaCarry.org. They have been lobbying to change the law regarding this. Georgia Carry has done a lot for firearms owners in Georgia & was asking for letters to be sent to the legislature regarding this very thing recently.

aw someone corrected my misspelling :neener: I have a break tomorrow after lunch so i think i will go buy their office. I'm going to Georgia Southern University.Great campus, a few of the uber liberal teachers really turned me of to higher education when i was fresh out of high school so i dropped out. Then I joined the real world. Found out there inst that much you can do that's not a manual labor job without an education so here i am, back at it.
There is/was an empty holster protest that was supposed to happen last semester but, the administration sent out a mass-mail stating that anyone seen on campus property with any kind of holster would bedelt with severely.....:cuss: i was not enrolled at the time so i did not get the email only what my brother relayed to me. He is also a student at GSU. Any who guys Ive got class in the am ill let you know what i find out tomorrow.

I know your pain, being in university right now i can say that it is not nice not having a gun beside the bed, not to mention the others in the closet...
Not being allowed to carry in Canada anyways:banghead: I can't speak on that subject but still...I don't like being defence-less.

gah, the university PD does not store student firearms. basically im boned... from the Ga. laws on firearms.

Weapons on school property and functions: It is (felony offense) unlawful for a person to carry ANY type of weapon onto or within 1,000 feet of real property owned or leased by any public or private elementary school, secondary school, or school board and used for elementary or secondary education and in, on, or within 1,000 feet of the campus of any public or private technical school, vocational school, college, university, or institution of post secondary education. I could always park off of campus.....:banghead:

I've done so much reading the last two days that my head is spinning, but does this mean that there is no guns on technical school/college/vocational blah blah because there may be an elementary or secondary school on campus? IIRC, around here it is not against the law to have a gun on college campus, just a school rule. Colorado Tech has some sort of elementary school in one of the buildings so it is actually against the law there. I'm ok with breaking rules if they put me in danger...laws, notsomuch.

When I wake up, I'll have to find out for sure.

Just carry anyway.....just make damn sure it's never seen. And god forbid you ever do need it......deal with that later, they might be thanking you by then.

Still got a chance to correct your own spelling mistakes. :D

Good luck with your education and your right to carry.

I'm the leader for TTU for concealedcampus.org and I'm planning to do some stuff this semester; I'll keep you updated hardhit, just so you know how things go in TN. I know for a fact that there are students here who keep guns locked in their cars but we all know they probably wouldn't be able to get to them in time.
