First ever reloading post....

I found 95% isopropyl that I use at the drug store. The lanolin is used for manufacturing makeup at home. That stuff works great doesn't it.:D The key is to use enough and to let it dry well. I use the mix for everything but case forming, I use Imperial there.

I use 1 pump of Frankford Arsenal spray lube for ~200 223 cases. I don't see where the savings are.

I suppose if I were a commercial reloader doing 10k a month, maybe.

I like the straight forward commentary, though. Good vid.

I really like his Super Swage mod. Decrimping never looked so fun. If he put the backstop farther out with a little hoop target, he could charge kids to swage his brass for him. :)

Yep, home made lanolin/alcohol is quite common, and it works as well as any store bought. For the last 10 or so years I've been using Mink Oil Boot Dressing to lube cases, as I don't do much more than 50-75 rifle cases at once and rubbing a lubed finger over a case doens't slow me down a bit...

FWIW, I'm real leery about anything I see on youtube as far as reloading/casting/shooting goes. I've seen some really off-the-wall stuff there 'cause anyone can post a video and become an "expert"...

While I tend to agree about anything you see on the Internet this time I would believe because lanolin is a well known highly effective lubricant.

I shoot about 20,000 rds a year....and all my own reloads ...in 9mm, .40S&W, .45 acp, .38 spl, .357 mag and .44 mag....and I'm just about at the end of a bottle of Dillon spray lube....( probably over the last 4 yrs ) ...for about $ 9 a bottle ....

why in the heck would you fool around with a homemade case lube...vs just buying it ....???

Being able to make a reloading product, at home, that is just as good as, or better than any offered by a "dedicated reloading product" vendor adds greatly to the satisfaction of "rollin' yer own". I can go to my local drug store and for less money and a whole lot quicker, obtain the same components as the $$ "special case lube". Won't have to pay shipping either. Not every town has reloading components available in a store front operation, and and "dedicated" reloading equipment/tools/supplies must be ordered on-line and shipped. Besides, if I could only use those products labeled "Reloading" I think I might stop reloading (or at least slow way down) and buy cheap, bulk ammo. But I reload because I like to, not having a quota, and I don't "need" 200 rounds per hour.

My bullet lube is beeswax and ATF or Marvels Mystery Oil. Amisol is another lube I use occationally. My case lube is Mink Oil Boot Dressing. My flux is sawdust. My tumbler media is blasting grit or lizzard litter. I use a serving spoon and soup ladel for working with my alloys, and muffin pans/corn bread pans for ingot molds. I made several powder dippers (mebbe a dozen) for dispensing powder charges. I used a mayo jar to catch used primers falling out of my press. That's all I can think of off hand, but you get the picture...
