A few of you may know I've been looking for a flintlock rifle project gun,(something to rework myself) have pistols but no rifles, until now.
Found this Caplock(Not a Flintlock, I know, but still looking) Jakar on GB and actually won it, had a couple minor wood cracks(no problem for me) and they said rusted bore and showed good pics... first auction I won...bore turned out awesome after a little work, here it is...

I have switched locks and switched the nipple drum for one (home made) that is a plug with a screwdriver slot and vent hole,
You should be able to get a lock that would be better than anything that was original equipment on one of these "gun broker" flinters.

Yes, could be converted to flint if you really like projects and messing around.

The patina on that brass is beautiful. I'd not shine it up. The stock on the other hand begs to be stripped and oiled. (not "Tru-oil", but a real oil and stain finish)
I like that song, but I never understood the last line. Agree about the stain and oil finish.

A out 16 years ago I picked this up at a yard sale in even sadder condition.
I stripped the stock and barrel, did some sanding and a little reshaping of the wood, polished the barrel inside and out. Used ancient Berchwood Casey Browning somition on the barrel and made my own tobacco strain for the stock. Once I got the color like I wanted and let it air out until the ammonia and tobacco smells were livable I polished the stock with bee’s wax ( from our hives) for a more traditional weather proofing.

The leather cuff covers that joint in the two piece stock and displays the trophies, 4 white tail teeth (one from each deer) taken by the original owner and his son and a hank of hair from the tail of my passed friend Sweet Hickory Jim a one eyed grey former stallion of a horse. The horn is decorative trash bought off a table at a community yard sale type event. The wall hooks are some of old Hickory’s shoes bent cold to that shape via brute force and ignorance.

It was a fun project and folks frequently notice it over the TV hutch despite the ancient VHS tapes and stands that need to be moved.
