Hey guys:

Never owned a gun before, but I'm looking to purchase my first gun. After a lot of research online and at the gun range, I've narrowed it down to the Glock 26 gen 4 for concealed-carry.

However, during my research, I found a lot of posts about problems with the gen 4, particularly a high incidence of FTE. I think this was more prevelant with the larger glock models, but several threads included the Glock 26 gen 4. They mentioned Wal-mart's Federal 115gr ammo as the culprit, but I don't recall the gen 3 ever having this issue.

Couple o' questions:

1. If the double-spring is identical to the gen 3, has Glock done anything to fix this issue on the 26?

2. Should I ask the gun store to give me their "newest" batch? Is there some type of production date stamped on the box so I can check myself?

I guess I forgot to answer your questions, too :p

1. The double recoil spring on the 26 is the same as gen3. I guess Glock decided to use double recoil springs on models that didn't use to have it - the 26 always had a double recoil spring. I don't think the recoil spring has anything to do with FTE problems for the 26, it's more than likely the extractor itself (which was redesigned). You can actually buy old style Glock extractors online, as a quick and cheap substitute IF you have eject problems.

2. I don't think getting a certain batch will help. Just get the 26, and hopefully all runs well and without incident.
