Congradulations and welcome to the US of As most persecuted minority group!

Shoot it and shoot it some more!

Then get some coaching. And shoot some more.

That's the beauty of the .22. You can even (check local laws) shoot it in the garge with CB Caps. (Primer powered light bullet loads.)

Who prefers the SP-101 in .22 LR, but I'm lazy and like to load faster. :D

you can't go wrong with herret's stocks. If there a little to spendy I'd go with eagle grips or ajax. Top it off with a tooled holster and your in tall cotton!

Nice purchase! I've found the Single Six to be one of the most fun and rewarding revolvers I own, and very accurate shooters. As for the rubber grips... I tend to feel that oversized rubber grips have no place on a .22 revolver. They are unnecessary, and painfully ugly to look upon.

Enjoy your new aquisition; I hope it brings you as much shooting joy as mine have.

the grandfather of a friend has just offered me a free scope mount to replace to rear sight, if he can find it. i'll definately have to look into that.:D

on another note: What should i do about cleaning it???? last time i pretty much just wiped off the dust. i've never opened up a pistol before so i am a little hesitant to take it apart. is this necessary? and how often? will any cleaning chemicals damage the finish? (hoppes #9 is what i use on the ol SKS, i think)

as for my plans for the grips, see here:

I held a Single Six for the first time last week and now have decided that I must get one.

Enjoy it and feed it plenty.

Unless they take a swim or something, they really don't require much cleaning. Pop out the cylinder, clean the charge holes and barrel normally with brush/wet & dry patches, wipe down the base pin, and wipe out the cylinder window in the frame.
In the long term, metal fouling can really build up in .22 barrels, so an occasional hit with lead or copper solvent may be in order.

That right there is a gooder. Congrats and happy birthday!
I have the blue version with the 9" bbl, maybe it's 9.5", anyway it's my fave .22 right now too.

I just picked up one myself yesterday - unfortunately, they didn't have a 6.5" barrel in stock, so I got the stainless 5.5" one. A Cincy gun store was having a Ruger weekend sale, so I walked out of there with the single six and a 10/22 for $600.

As far as dry-firing, you don't need to worry about that on the newer single sixes. Apparently the new transfer bar system does not have parts that get damaged from dry-firing, like the older models do.

Hey guys! I managed to pick up a New Model Single Six last night! I was originally looking for a Bearcat. Side by side compared it to the Bearcat, but the Single Six's action seemed significantly tighter than the Bearcat. I also liked having adjustable sights, and overall way it felt in my hand (Although I plan to teach my nephew how to shoot with this one someday, and basically purchased it for him as a future gift).

I love how the cylinder can be removed without tools for easy cleaning, etc. Shop indicated it was 26 years old (Serial 67-823XX), but there are no pings or holster wear anywhere - not even the stock! Extremely good condition, with box and manual. Also have the .22 WMR cylinder, and I liked that aspect too. Action locks up very tight, and construction seems extremely rugged and robust IMO (Or am I just used to the 637 .38 Airweight??).

I would have preferred a stainless version, but the blue on this one seems to have been well done, and I couldn't resist it. Two sixty nine out the door. Haven't been to the range yet, but I am sure looking forward to it! Woo hoo!!!!!
