I also usually recommend a DA .22 caliber revolver as a "first gun", due to
its inexpensive ammo, and light recoil. If a centerfire caliber is a must, you
should look towards a .357 magnum. Many quality pieces can be found on
the used but not abused market; ranging in price from $200-$400 C-notes,
with collector pieces going much higher~!
