Well, today I got to go shooting for the first time in almost six months. I took my 640 and my 3" 65, and shot pretty well with both. The only troubling part about the whole trip was that the 65, which has a Teddy J. trigger, had some light primer strikes on WWB .38 ammo. I'm going to call or email and see if his triggers are recomended for federal primers only, as I've seen that mentioned on Miculek's website. Both performed flawlessly with federal ammo, and the little 640 almost jumped out of my hand with 158gr .357! Not painful, just a little tough to hang on to. :) My wife even enjoyed shooting both guns, while she didn't attempt either with full power .357. The range is about an hour away, and now that I know how to get there I think I'll be going a lot more than once every six months!!!

The target on the left is a five shot group from the 640 and measures 1 3/8" from a range of about 15-20 feet. The target on the right is a six shot group from the 65 and measures 1 1/2" from the same range. I measured from center to center of the outer most shots, is that the appropriate technique?

6 months eh ... never again! Sounds like a good session ... and hey, an hour ain't too bad, particularly if Mrs Matt is along too. Glad you got some shooting after so long.

I just tweaked those last two target pics to brighten em up a bit - easier to see etc. I think yeah - center to center - sounds good.

Teddy doesn't do email very well or often, call him. He also doesn't lighten triggers at the expense of reliability, call him. ;)

And that's good shooting for being out of the loop for so long. Don't do that again, ya' hear? :D

A buddy from work also happened to be there and he had me shoot his XD-40, which I've never shot before. I kept them all in the 9 and X rings! I checked Teddy's website and it says to call any day after 10, I hate to call him on a Sunday, but I'm going to give it a try tomorrow anyway.

The gunshop attached to the range also had a VERY interesting model 13. Someone had it on consignment and it was pretty heavily customized. It had a chromed and bobbed hammer, a dovetail front night site, and a SAFETY!!! You simply push the rear (checkered) portion of the cylinder release upward, and it tilts diagonally about 20-30 degrees and locks all trigger movement. Has anyone ever heard of or seen this???

I talked to Teddy today and he is a VERY nice guy. He said a quarter turn on the strain screw should have me fixed up, and he's sending me a free wrench tomorrow.

P95, they had another custom with a trigger stop coming out of the back of the trigger guard at the same point the trigger comes out. Looked very similar to a newer gun with the lock engaged, but next to the trigger instead of the hammer. Hopefully one of the boys will chime in on the safety, or should I start a new thread on that alone???

Larry, have you had Teddy do work for you? His actions really are unbelievable. When I talked to him this morning, he confirmed that he is semi-retired now. I hope that I'll be able to have him do work on another of my guns before he gets out of the game completely.

I've had him do four guns for me; each one runs like a fine watch. Reliability is his primary goal, but his triggers and actions are still super crisp and smooooth.

Last one he did was delayed because he got sick and backlogged; I got the impression then he was getting ready to slow down. Regardless, his work is worth any wait.
