Hi all, i just set up my bench and attempted my first .38 special reloads on an RC press.

All went well. except i have having problems seating the bullet. It is a LSWC 158 grain from lasercast. I am using RCBS dies. I follow the directions on how to set up the die, however i am finding it extremely difficult to tell if the case if being crimped too much, or not. I set up the bullet to be seated almost but not quite up to where the base of the swc starts. This is where the crimping groove is. Then, according to RCBS directions i turn the entire die downward until i *think* i feel it touch the case mouth aka i cant turn the die much without hitting the shellholder. Awesome, just like the directions say. However, when i crimp down the bullet gets seated further and appears to slightly buldge. I back the die off, and try again. This time the bullet gets seated just before the base VERY VERY VERY SLIGHTLY before it. This looks like it would be good to me, however it doesnt appear to be crimped.

Is the bullet crimped? I guess i really just am not sure how it should look, rather then having problems.

Here are some i did with various seating depths / trying to figure out the crimp, any info will be appreciated.

THe one on the left has what i believe to be crimp, but less of it, the two on the right are with almost identical setting with what i believe to be more crimp. the one in the middle seems to be buldged EVER so slightly, i dont have the pistol with me atm to see if it would chamber. It is very little though so i am not sure if that is a problem.
