I took the advice of several members and after a lot of dry fire practice this week, I went to the range and even though it was windy, I got my first sub MOA group.:D

Gun was a Remington 700 VLS in .223 with a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40. Ammo was Hornady 55 grain, full metal jacket, boat tail. Shot off of bags (front and rear) at 100 yards.

Way to go!!

Accuracy is addicting, so be careful. That is a great group and something to be proud of.

Take care,

Matt

Sub MOA. You almost went sub Half MOA.
Good job. Every milestone has it's own reward.

I skimmed that thread you referenced and didn't see any thing on NPA.
Natural Point of Aim.

Congratulations!

So what was it you changed? Were you using too much finger (more than just the pad on the trigger)? Were you flinching? You said you did a bunch of dry firing, what were the things you had to work on?

If the dry firing helped, it probably wasn't a breathing problem. Those are respectable groups, especially from a non-bench rest gun. A bit of hand loading or trying different ammo to find what your rifle likes and you may see .4 inch groups instead of .6. With that level of accuracy... is it worth the extra work?

The problems were in my trigger pull. I was jerking the trigger and moving the gun in the process.
