first suppressor

Hey this is a stupid question but just i was wondering what exactly is involved in getting a first suppressor? I am not a gunsmith, gun store owner, ffl, or any sort of law enforcement.. I just recently got interested and figured I'd get some good info here... I live in Florida if that helps.
