Not much to report really as it turned out to be a short day but a couple people asked to post one after I shot it.
I bought it a couple weeks ago and this is the first time I've had a chance to get to the range.
Things started out well. I Had a couple boxes of 55gr. Remington that I bought at Wal-Mart. I got my EOTech dialed in at 25yards and was able to keep all the rounds at least touching the 10 ring from a standing position.
After those 40 rounds were gone this is where the trouble started. I had about 200 rounds of Wolf that I was going to run through it. i have shot Wolf before and was aware of the problems. Although I have not really had any problems with it in My AK or my Bushie. I didnt ever use it that much in the Bushmaster any way but I cant remember problems. Anyway....
I only put 6 rounds of Wolf through it. 4-5 of them did not cycle into the chamber and I had to do it manually. On the 6th round of Wolf the bolt was stuck closed with a fired round still in the chamber. I couldnt get it out so I took it to the local gunsmith since it was on my way home anyway. Denny's Guns. After a little doing he was finally able to get the bolt out and dislodge the fired round. He said it was real dirty. I cleaned and lubed the gun before I took it out but apparently the Wolf just isnt gonna run in the Stag.
So now Im off to tear it down and give her a good cleaning.

.............

well, I just broke it down and gave it a good cleaning. The smith said to clean the gas tube but I dont have the right size allen wrench to get the handguards off. I have 3 sets and nothing would fit, so I just got it the best I could. Nothing looked abnormally dirty so I guess I will just chalk it up to the Wolf ammo.?

Stag and Wolf

Well, I think your conclusion is correct. The Stag AR doesn't like the dirty Wolf. I'v only shot Wolf in my .223 AK - and it was fine in that. I also have a Bushmaster and just ordered a Stag lower for a build.

I have no intentions of using Wolf in either my Bushy or the new build.

Not that the Wolf is "bad", its just cheap and made for shooting in AK's IMHO.

You can let the exterior of the gas tube get as dirty as you like, it won't hurt anything. Generally you don't need to clean the interior of a gas tube either if you use a powder with less than 1.25% (IIRC) calcium carbonate in it. Practically every domestically manufactured .223 (and all NATO-spec 5.56x45) meets this standard; but I don't know if Wolf does.

If for some reason you did need to clean it, I wouldn't do anything more than squirt some Gunscrubber down the gas tube. You don't want to be sticking extra long pipe cleaners or q-tips in there. The gas tube will get between 15k and 30k psi of hot gas shot through it with every pull of the trigger, so you aren't going to get much out of the tube with a pipe cleaner.

yeah, I cant see it getting that dirty after 45-46 rounds anyway.
I wish the Wolf would have ran in the gun. Some one mentioned I may be losing gas. Its going to drive me nuts untill I can shoot it again. Im hoping I can get alteast 100 or so rounds of some more remington through it next weekend. Im a little gun shy to try the Wolf again though.
