Will Sunday was the first chance I had to shoot my new to me CVA Hawkens.
After reading as much as possible here on the forum I must say WOW.
First shot ever with the rifle at 25 yards with 60 grain charge of Pyrodex P
lube patch and a .490 ball was POI and POA were the same. I must say I am really taken with this rifle.
Took 6 shots before running a patch and at 25 yards clover leaf pattern.
next time out I am going 50 yards and im gonna try 70 grains and see how it works for me.

Did you shoot the 1860?

What caliber is your Hawken? My .50 likes anything from 70-90grs with a prb. I was going to shoot my new to me Mowrey last Sunday but ran out of daylight.

No didnt take the 60 to the range because I got the grips stripped down and didnt want to take a chance of messing up the wood. LOL And I dont want to show off that little baby until I get the leather finished .
My Hawkens is a .50 god I love that rifle.
Scared the hell out of the wife who was plinking with my/her .22 sa revolver when the Hawkens went off she jumped 3 feet in the air ROFLMAO.
Did you get the rig fitted properly yet?
