I finally was able to get out to the range for the first time since August. Only had enough time to shoot my .58 caliber, T/C Hawken (caplock).

The target below was shot from 25 yards, seated. I used about 68 grains of FFG Goex, wonder wad, patch and a .570 hornady round ball.

I also shot 6 shots seated from 50 yards with similar results.

Finally, I shot 5 shots off hand at 25 yards and did okay -- a little shaking on my part.

The gun is dialed in -- I need a little work in holding a steadier hand!
Guess that will come with more range time, but, unfortunately, am lucky to get out to the range once a month, if that.

Can't think of a better way to spend a few hours on a beautiful fall morning!

Wow great shooting, I think my Traditions .50 cal Hawken can do that, I just need more range time.

I did not know T/C made a Hawkens 58.
I have a Cabelas (Interarms) Hawkens 58, but with the 15/16 across the flats barrel, it does seem a tad 'thin'. I use 70 gr Goex and a patched 570 ball, virtually the same as you. I did get a Lee REAL mold and cast up a bunch, but I have not had a chance to try them yet.
I thought T/C only offered a 58 in the 'Big Boar' which looks like the same stock as a single trigger Renegade & White Mountain Carbine?
Anyway, Nice riflegun and good shootin'

According to the T/C web site, the only .58's they made were the Big Boar, Firehawk and a custom barreled Renegade. It could be an aftermarket barrel.

Mykeal:

I got the Hawken through Fox Ridge Outfitters. Not sure if they still market a .58 caliber T/C Hawken...

They don't even market Hawkens, much less .58 cal options.
