After a few months of collecting parts instead of shooting my fun money up, Today at last, I'm finally pulling the lever on my Lee 4 hole Turret ( the cast iron one) And loading my first .45 Colt rounds.

I'm aiming for lower pressure rounds to shoot in a Schofield replica, (at least till I buy my hog revolver for my brother in law's trips )

Powder : Trailboss, running through a Lee auto Disk, on the 1.26 measure, which should put me at 5.8 grains (.3 grams by weight) of powder. slightly above the 5.5 minimum.

I've weighed a sampling of rounds from start to finish, the powder drop has been consistent.

I'm shooting a box of 200gr plated bullets from Berry's. (one of the few left in my caliber the day I went to the shop.. casting is a much later step to add to the process)

Anything I'm missing here? I've got them seated nicely with a light crimp to start ( the starter "half turn" the dies prescribed to start with )

Thanks folks!!

Sounds like those will be nice soft loads.

I don't know how much you're paying for the plated bullets, but you might check out Missouri Bullet Co. Brad is member here and offers a discount to other THR members. I've shot his 250gr LRNFP bullets in .45 Colt with compete satisfaction, and they're priced very competitively.

I'm going to baby the Schofield, The real fun starts once I have a Super Blackhawk or similar heavy pistol for my Inlaw's hunting invites.

All told am down to $0.30 a round this run.

I'm sure i'll get that much lower as time goes on, it's a steal compared to $35-50 a box cowboy rounds off the shelf.

.45 colt practically pays you to load it, I'll have the money back on the entire press in a few good days of practice.

Thanks !
