N82 holster
(possibly worse than an Uncle Mike's ... and y'all know I like to hate on Uncle Mike's :neener: )

Yeah, get rid of that N82 holster and most of your problems will be gone.

If you're going to carry on strong side, you'll want the 15deg cant (straight up and down is best with either a much smaller gun or carry in front or cross draw).

High noon makes good leather, but honestly a dual clip/loop style holster is going to carry better.

Look at the Crossbreed Supertuck, Ugly Bald Guy Striker, CompTac Minotaur, K&D Thunderbird Defender* or some other similar holster. Folk really swear by that Supertuck (they say its ugly but very comfortable).

*just checked and unfortunately K&D doesn't make one for your Ruger ... but the other three do

Ordered a Crossbreed Supertuck two days ago.
You won't be disappointed. Use some saddle soap to loosen it up. If the hooks make noise on your belt just get some stick on velcro (the fuzzy side) and stick it on the side that contacts the belt. I did that & loved mine after I did.

I've bought one for an XD and another for my Glock 17. I was going to buy another for my Glock 26, but realized it fit the G17 one just fine. I just did a homemade "combat cut" job (for my extended mag release on the G17) & it's perfect!

I subsribe to the buy quality holsters and belts first but only because I spent 5 times the amount of a good holster/belt combo on cheaper holsters at first. If you have to go cheap, UBG may work for a holster or the high noons could work also. I personally don't like can't but I carry right at 3 o'clock.
The 511 belts are good for carrying and are pretty cheap for just out of college folks.
I personally feel that my $100 Sam Andrews Maverick holster is just as good as my $170 Milt Sparks VM II holster.

Everyone is right on when they recommend a quality holster & belt. In my case, I went with a Simply Rugged Sourdough for my 642. Living in Florida, I can (and do) walk around in a t-shirt & shorts, and not print.

Your going to love the crossbreed when it arives...a great value and super comfortable. I carry a G27 in mine which is about the same size as your ruger...you should be GTG!

Ive only been carrying for 1 year but ive found only 2 spots i can carry comfortably.
The best spot is at 3:30 with a cant to it.
Second can only be done with a subcompact and that is 10:30-11 o'clock. Must be a short barrel or your junk will be smooshed.
Ive been threw about 7 different guns just trying to find the one i like, I went in with the intention of buying and trying that many guns. Im pretty picky and must carry it a while before i can say i like carrying that gun.

My full sized 1911 in a handmade leather holster i made rides perfectly from the 3:30 position. The key is to get a solid holster that doesn't have much excess material to make it even bulkier.

One thing ive found is that a holster doesn't need to be able to re-holster a weapon to be good. You shouldn't have to take it out unless your gonna use it.
If i have to take it off to enter a NO GUN zone i take the whole holster off.

BTW after 1 year the worry about printing has finally worn off for me long as my cloths aren't too tight. As i still have some that i cant wear anymore while ccw'ing.
My cell phone sticks out 3x more than my guns do under a shirt. I also have a folder Benchmade knife i carry in a nylon holster on my belt. With so much going on with bulges i doubt anyone could pick out one that looks like a gun.
But it will take you time to get over that, But you will.

The more you think about hiding it, the more you'll subconsciously touch, fiddle, project a tell.

Takes time, but remember that people are generally oblivious, thinking about their own life, and it's the criminals sizing you up, the police watching the crowd, or other hyper-aware types (hopefully most of us fall into that category) you"re really concealing from.

Good belt, comfortable holster, long shirts and carrying a gun that fits your proportions and you're golden.

Good luck, I've had random people walk into my house from the backyard, in the middle of the day twice in 3 years. I OC at home, The wife and kids treat it like another pocketknife now.

Thanks everyone.

Anyone know why my new carry ammo, ranger t-series +p+, says LEO use only and not for retail use?

because the manufacturer only wants it to go to LEO's, sometimes they make it on a separate assembly line or price or package it differently.

Its not illegal to use or carry, but Winchester would rather you buy the more expensive rounds in the 20 round boxes.

Yeah I noticed that when I got 50 rounds for ten dollars more than the usual 20 round box.

The salesman said it was pretty much the same thing as black talon ammo that got banned and labeled "cop killers". He then popped out his magazine and showed me his weapon was loaded with an old batch of them.
