Virginia (Ginny) Thrasher, 19, took gold in her first Olympics. She's been shooting for 5 years. She will have another chance to medal when she competes in smallbore rifle (Women's 3 position 50M rifle) on Thursday before flying back to the U.S. to start her sophomore year at West Virginia University.

Obviously a very good shooter (she was ranked 23 in the world before this event), but also quite composed for someone so young. Very impressive.

A real winner for sure.

She said she went deer hunting prior to taking up competitive shooting and said she enjoyed the experience. The article also shared space with Kim Rhode (6 time Olympian) who said she was having to jump through hoops to get practice ammo for her shotgun because of the Ca regulations and her need for boat loads of ammo.
