I am shooting my first USPSA match this weekend and am wondering how much ammo to bring? I believe the match will be 5 stages and I plan on bringing 5 pistol mags with for my Glock 21.

I am also not sure if I should shoot limited or production division. Right now I am leaning toward limited so I can shoot major power factor and load my mags all the way. Any advice on this?

Shooting production or limited is really a personal choice; you are only shooting against like equipped shooters so it doesn't gain you any advantage. Shooting minor in limited would be a disadvantage.

I shoot production and always bring six mags and carry one more than the number of reloads I'll need for a particular stage in case I have to rip a mag out because of a jam. Nothing's worse than running out of ammo before running out of targets.

Maximum number of rounds for a stage is 32. They should have told you the minimum number of rounds for the match. Paper targets usually require two hits, but can be any number. You can shoot more than that unless the stage is Virginia count, which means no more rounds per target than they tell you. There will probably be some steel targets. If you miss one steel more than once, slow down and hit it.

The rules are posted on the USPSA website; read them. Breaking a safety rule at any time can earn you a DQ (match disqualification), so don't go faster than you can go safely. Once the timer goes off you will only notice the targets and forget anything you told yourself to do/not do.

Despite my warnings, it's a whole lot of fun.

a min of 250 rounds will see you through the 5 stages, with some left over in case you are given a re-shoot.

Unless you have magazine extensions to increase capacity, I would suggest Limited 10, which is the natural place for a non-single stack 45. The same 10 rounds as Production, but major is ok and you are not competing against 20 round 40's.

Good advice everyone, looks like I will be shooting Limited 10. It also looks like I need to reload a little more ammo.

I bring 200 rounds to local matches and I've never run out. More can't hurt though.

200 rounds is usually enough. I could get away with 150 about 90% of the time but 200 is a safer bet.

If they give the actual round count, a good rule of thumb is to bring at least twice that much.
