This is my first year to ever actually go Turkey hunting! Below is my first ever Gobbler and the box call you see I inherited from my Paw Paw many years ago. Mom told me years ago that he'd come home after getting him a turkey with his face swollen up from mosquito bites. As for this turkey I heard him faintly heard him gobble...he sounded like he was a long way off...and hit Paw Paws call and he responded...long story short after calling and calling he finally came but would not come on thru the brush so I tried a different call and he headed away from me. Ugh! Well I grabbed Paw Paws call again and hit it twice and he came racing back and busted thru not more than 15 yards from me. What a hoot! He's at the taxi now waiting to be mounted.
This is my second Gobbler and I got him this past Saturday. They weren't responding to my calls but he was beautiful and my wife had never been with me when I actually had the chance to get anything so I didn't want to pass him up. He was 125 yards away in pretty windy conditions. I named him Blue Head.
