I went out on my first turkey hunt this morning and would have to say that I see why others say that this is one of the most addicting types of hunting of all.

We called to one gobbler who answerd, but we never got a look at him. We scouted some good spots for next time though.

Anyways, just wanted to share.

Anyone else go turkey hunting today?

Go out this evening and roost them. Makes it WAY easier tomorrow morning.

Actually, why are you back typing on the computer? You ought to be out killin' birds

I think Turkey hunting is by far the funnest hunting of all. Love hearing them birds call back at ya and the challenge of taking him before he busts you is exciting.

Also, carrying a bird out is better than dragging 150lbs of dead weight;)

Like redneck2 says, learn how to put them to bed, makes it easier to locate in the morning.

like the others said, learn where they sleep and it puts you close to them in the morning. Sometimes when they roost on private land with no access this is hard to do. Turkeys are creatures of habit and patterns so, if you can get to where you heard him this morning, more'n likely he'll pass by the same spot tomorrow about the same time if someone else aint killed him.

If ever you hear or see turkeys in the same spot two days in a row......that's a pattern.....and if you go there on day three and sit all day without spookin' them....and someone else aint killed them......they will be back.

CT's turkey season doesn't start til May 2nd. Glad that someone got to go hunting this morning. I'm stuck counting the days til opening morning.

I'm going later in the spring :)

Question though... I've never had wild turkey. How's it compare to the domestic article? Will the wife and kids like it? (they liked the deer I dragged home last fall, so at least that is encouraging).
