i'm going to be purchashing one of the new 2004 style P99's in 9mm with the intention of getting an Ohio CCW license, and i've decided on a kydex holster. the ones that most interest me are the Fist ultra thin and the Sidearmor modular. the main question i have is not about quality, as i've heard great things about Sidearmor and i've always been a fan of Jim Murnack's products, but which is better suited to CCW?

the Fist holster is very thin and concealable looking, but i'm concerned that about the fact that it appears to be "generically fit", and not molded to any paricular gun. the Sidearmor has been molded quite carefully to the P99, but it also appears to be a much larger holster than the Fist. has anyone had direct experience with either/both of the holsters? just a note, i'm assuming that the Sidearmor holster is available for the new 2004 P99 design. if there isn't one by Sidearmor by the time i need an IWB holster, i guess i'll get the Fist. thanks.

RE: FIST

FIST holsters are directly molded to fit the model. I bought a Sideamor for my G26, nice holster, but at the time didn't fit my needs (clip-on, quick to put on or remove). I bought a FIST K1 IWB clip-on for the G26 and the first thing I noticed is just how thin the FIST was, compared to the Kydex Sidearmor.

I've bought 5 or 6 FIST holsters in the last 6 years, never had a problem, very well made, in my opinion. Also, www.gunnersalley.com has the best price, it's cheaper than buying it directly from FIST.

ah, so the Fist holsters are molded for each handgun. i guess i didn't read the website closely enough. thanks for your advice. given this information, i will probably get the Fist holster.

I have a FIST 1AK ultra thin Kydex holster for my Kahr PM-9, and it is perfectly molded to the weapon. It is so thin that you just "know" that it is going to be fragile, but you would be wrong.

It conceals as well as my AKJ Concealco IWB, and is quite a bit thinner. The AKJ holds the butt closer to my side for when I am wearing a "clingy" shirt, but the FIST, while it allows the butt to stick out a bit from my "love handles" is still easy to conceal.
