Hello,

As mentioned in an earlier thread, I have ordered a couple holsters from Andrews Leather for my P220 ST.

By sheer chance, I just stumbled upon a (potentially) screaming deal on a P220 ST Carry Elite. I took the gamble.

So... I have heard that a portion of the carry versions slide is machined a little wider, requiring more break-in if using a standard P220 holster.

My question: If I break in the holsters with a P220 Carry, will they then be too lose on the standard? I am wondering if the other standard-width parts between the guns would provide enough tension to keep the full size gun in place. It would nice if they could work together, then I would have a modular system where I could choose the gun and holster that I want for specific situations. If no-one else has tried this, I will give it a shot with one of the holsters and provide an answer, when the holsters come in July/August.

Note: The deal I am speaking of in on Buds website. It is a listing for a CPO .45 Stainless P220 for $803; offering little additional description and not even a picture. In my eyes this would be a great price even for a P220 ST alone, but the only review of the item stated that the gun received was a P220 ST Carry Elite in excellent condition with two mags. I am hoping I get the same thing. :D Is there somewhere in the forums I can share this "good deal" if it turns out to be so?

Note #2: And no, before anyone asks, I am not made of money. Recently there was a glitch in our payroll system at work causing a slight underpayment over a period of time. That glitch was rectified with a gift card containing a decent chunk of change. I consider this "toy money". :D

I'm slightly confused. Looking at the Bud's site, I see the used 220ST for $686 and the used 220 Carry Elite for $724

FWIW there is no Carry version of the 220ST. The Elite model lineup does have the Carry version available

Ah, I did a quick search and can eliminate some of the confusion. I apparently purchased the last of this gun. The item I purchased now says "sold" rather than showing a price and it isn't showing up a basic search of Bud's inventory. I had to type in the inventory number to find it.

The only review of the item in question states that the purchaser did in fact receive the stainless Carry Elite. Perhaps he got lucky, but I definitely feel my purchase was worth the gamble either way.

Edited: I did see one of those cheaper 220s, but I wasn't interested in a blued P220 at this time, the stainless versions really have a weight that I like. I never saw a carry elite at that price, or even another 220 ST; boy if I had seen those I never would have gambled.

I just edited my previous post before you posted again, oops. I hadn't originally noticed that you were talking about Stainless 220's.

The stainless P220's at those low price points must be sold out, I never saw them (unless I really screwed up). I wish I had your shopping skills... when I was searching for a Stainless P220 in 2009 the cheapest I could find was $750.

After a painfully long wait (but a wait well worth it), my exquisite Andrews Custom Leather holsters arrived.

To answer my own question, or any future questions:

The P220 Carry Elite Stainless does fit remarkably well in the Andrews' holster ordered for a P220 Stainless full frame. But, there are a few minor details to point out:

The McDaniel II: THe Carry elite fits perfectly in the McDaniel, but this holster is designed to cover the gun to the end of the barrel on a full length P220, leaving an extra 1/2 of holster that must be concealed with the Carry Elite. This seems like a small tradeoff for a great holster that can accommodate two of my favorite guns.

The Andrews Monarch Shoulder Rig: The Carry Elite looks perfect in this rig, and the protruding muzzle design of the holster allows either sized pistol to slide through. But, the extended beavertail of the P220 Carry Elite interferes a little with the thumb break on this holster designed for the P220; causing a tight fit. I am confident it will form to the new shape after a few days, but I anticipate a little stretching and creasing of the break. Depending upon how the Full P220 fits after this stretching, the Monarch might be a Carry Elite only holster.
