Fitting Harris Bipod to ATI Stock

I recently purchased an ATI stock for a 580 series Mini-14. My understanding is that with a stock Mini-14 you have to buy an adapter that fits to the gas block. With the ATI stock is it possible to attach a bipod from the sling swivel rather than having to use the adapter?

If the ATI stock has swivel studs and quick connect sling system you're in business the Harris mounts to the front stud. The original Mini stock mounts the sling of the gas block and the Harris won't fit that.
