The message is very clear in news reports…

Bush supporters are violent-prone wackos… except for Barry Seltzer who's an anomally, but it's okay because the Bush Presidency is all Katherine Harris' fault in the first place!
Anti-John Kerry demonstrator Michael Garone, 52, was charged Tuesday with felony aggravated assault with a gun for allegedly pointing a weapon at the head of a Kerry supporter in Vero Beach.
18-year-old Steven Soper couldn't convince his girlfriend that George W. Bush was the right choice for president, became enraged, put a screwdriver to her throat and threatened to kill her, sheriff's officials said.

"You won't live to see the next election," Soper told Stacey Silveira on Tuesday night as the two fought inside Soper's gray, two-story home west of Boynton Beach, according to a police report.

Palm Beach County Circuit Court Judge William Bollinger ordered Wednesday that Soper, who enlisted in the Marine Corps on Saturday, be held without bail pending a mental-health assessment. His next court date is today. He faces charges of aggravated battery, false imprisonment and resisting arrest without violence.
In the most publicized incident, motorist Barry Seltzer, 46, was arrested Wednesday on charges of trying to run down Rep. Katherine Harris, R-Fla., at a Sarasota intersection.

"I was exercising my political expression," police quoted Seltzer as saying. "I did not run them down, I scared them a little.

"Resisting arrest without violence" is a very interesting charge, very Gandhi-eque, I'd say, but there goes Soper's USMC enlistment.

yeager, my point is only that nobody knows the facts (hell, if this was in the NY Times it maybe didn't even happen ;) ). I am not defending the guy who pulled the gun, I am only defending myself from some members trying to make a point at my expense that I (and W supporters in general I assume) am 'blinded by the right' and therefore incapable of seeing how if the 'Kerry and anti-Kerry' were reversed we'd be singing a different tune - which is completely untrue.

The fact is, it is certainly possible from the 'evidence' that the guy who pulled the gun did feel threatened, was assaulted and was in the right, or at the very least not criminally wrong. It is also possible that he's a whack job.

But to say that if the 'Kerry and anti-Kerry' were reversed I would not come to the same conclusion I have is insulting. I could care less if this guy was in the right or not, and I think we agree that it doesn't look good - and I made that clear in my first post.

I'm not defending him, I'm defending myself.

Interesting Comparison...

.... here is that one side draws a firearm(allegedly at this point, even though charges have been filed) with no shots fired, while the other side(ostensibly put forward, as no direct evidence links the Dems directly) has supposedly fired actaul shots into at least one Rep headquarters and done invasion/takeover of one other(minimum).

Let's see which stories are carried to the greatest degree by the main news agencies(anyone taking bets?:p )...... one supporter goes too far in perceived self-defense, while mutiple supporters of the other sude breaks several laws in more than one instance at various locations.

Oh yeah, it is just beginning to get interesting and the end is right around the corner.....

Before going to a whole lot of philosophical and political posturing I would hold that the most likely explanation is that both these guys are idiots.

I think sendec just distilled out the only indesputable fact from the entire article. Everything else is he said / she said. But, there is no denying that mutual idiocy played an integral role in this event even happening.

He should have just smacked the guy in the mouth then went on about his business.
Really though, I doubt that the article is anywhere near the truth. They almost never are.
