Since I can't find the answer to my satisfaction, I'll ask this educated forum.

Anyone use only a Non Resident FL CCW as opposed to aquiring a resident in home state? More specific If an Arkansas resident chose to obtain a Non-resident FL and use is that person "legal". How about other states?

You see the heads changed at AR State Police when all the requests were being addressed. At first someone opened mouth -inserted foot and said no. Then NO response, heck even inquiries were not responded to. Best we can tell it IS legal for an Arkansas resident to have ONLY a FL CCW license. I have not rec'd any response back from FL licensing bureau, nor any replies from www.packing.org. I gave up on AR (in more ways than one...arrgghh).

My only thought is if one were to be 'required ' to have a resident ( in this case AR) CCW permit/license before recipricosity with another state.

Arrgghh. Be so much easier if no gun laws , no permits/license....etc.

Experience, Advice, Thoughts?

Thanks

HK thanks.

I thought that was the case, I even snail mailed that particular page to ASP...they stuttered-stammered...gave no reply. Typical.

I'll inform the individual to proceed with non res FL...AR would only do something stupid with his monies -like put it towards a Klinton library -arrrgghh!

keep finding links I need after a new HDD install.

I have an Arizona CCW for my home state. Got a Florida one to cover the rest of the southeast.

Nothing on it says its a non resident instead of a resident permit. Until you look at the address:cool:

I have the AR resident, and non res FL myself.

I have a friend that has been trying to get a straight answer from ASP. I said just get the non res FL. You see the AR CCW is flagged on AR DL...FL is NOT ! When I assisted with CCW there was a LOT of confusion, total SNAFU on ASP part. For the money and the efforts FL has done...give FL the business.

Yes very happy for Missouri.

There's two sections of law:

5-73-401. Recognition of other states' permits - Acts 1997, No. 789.
Any person in possession of a valid license issued by another state to carry a concealed handgun shall be entitled to the privileges and subject to the restrictions prescribed by Arkansas' concealed handgun law (§ 5-73-301 et seq.) provided that the concealed handgun law of the state that issued the license is at least as restrictive as Arkansas' concealed handgun law and that the state that issued the license recognizes concealed handgun licenses issued under § 5-73-301 et seq. The Director of the Department of State Police shall make a determination as to which states' permits will be recognized in Arkansas and provide that list to every law enforcement agency within the state. The director shall revise the list from time to time and provide the revised list to every law enforcement agency in this state.

5-73-402. Recognition of other states' permits - Acts 1997, No. 1239.
Any person in possession of a valid license issued by another state to carry a concealed handgun shall be entitled to the privileges and subject to the restrictions prescribed by Arkansas concealed handgun law (§ 5-73-301 et seq.) provided that the state that issued the license recognizes concealed handgun licenses issued under § 5-73-301 et seq. The Director of the Department of State Police shall make a determination as to which states' permits will be recognized in Arkansas and provide that list to every law enforcement agency within the state. The director shall revise the list from time to time and provide the revised list to every law enforcement agency in this state.

My guess is that the legislature screwed up and forgot to repeal 5-73-401 or simply rewrite it.

In any case, it says ANY PERSON. It does not say "Non-resident" anywhere there, or that residents of Arkansas are excluded.
