Not sure where else to post this, but I have a question. I put a flag up in my yard today, and I was wondering if it's ok to leave it out all night, or should it be picked up every evening? Thanks

some america-hating kid could tear it down at night aswell. a friend of mine who's very anti-america (it's that common teen rebellion crap...i'm a teen too, but... well, i'm not stupid. ) who would probably do that. he and a friend also wanted to make a muzzle loader from a pipe, and wanted my help. hmm...

TMM,

If I were to catch your 'teen' buddies tearing down an American flag, I'd _______________________. You fill in the blanks. Plus, I'd enjoy doing the jail time, to protect the flag.

It warms my heart to see people who care about how are flag is displayed. While I have seen many in violation of the rules listed, I cannot fault them, as just the will to proudly display your country's flag makes you a good person by me. I keep mine prominantly displayed across my living room wall, and it fills me with pride every time I walk down the stairs and see it.

funny how these teens think they hate America.

maybe take them to China and let them try their stuff there, see if they still hate it here.

DUH. they hate their parents, the other kids at school, they just dont even realize what they are mad at.

And so what do you all say to the millions and millions of folks flying tatered Old Glorys from their radio/CB antennas?

Ultima, I'd say something like "stop using the pike as a chopstick."

Seriously, it'd be more like "hey, cheapo, pop for a new flag every once in a while."

For the little 'uns on cars I'm less concerned about the raising/lowering hours, illumination etal. But a person should have the consideration to not haul a trashed flag around. Either treat it with a modicum of respect or don't bother making the gesture.

But that's just me.

Still likin' that .45 by the way. :)

TMM: Just a thought. maybe you need a new friend if you cannot convert him to being a proper person. :D

PS, a number of people in the 20s and 30 working for Ford went to the USSR to help make Ford cars. They were of the leftist bent and some realized that living in their beloved communist country was not all it was 'sposed to be.

Note to TMM;

You are to be commended for having a brain and using it, instead of going along with the mob.

I share the concern for you though. You ohave stated your friends hate America, love communism and are interested in building lethal weapons. You need to seriously reconsider your friends. These guys are going to get you into their trouble. It isn't fair I know, but if you are near them when they act on their stupidity, you will probably be lumped in with them. Eventually you may be able to convince people of your innocence but, damage will already be done and the incident will follow you.

They want to make a gun? Why? This could be bad and someone needs to be discreetly told about this. I understand the dilemma you are in but the question is, do you want to risk being known by dirtbags as a snitch, or live with the thought that someone died and you could have done something about it. I know it is risky but, being a patriot is more than talking about tattered flags. Sometimes you have to take action to protect liberty, including the right of the community to be safe from stupid people.

Flag Etiquitte is just that.

It's kind of like if you were a chef in a restaurant. You'd want people to eat your food, even if they didn't use the right fork all the time or put their elbows on the table. However, you'd appreciate it even more if the patron loved your food so much that they went the extra mile to put the napkin in their lap and use the right fork.

I personally try to follow Etiquitte as much as possible, but I'm guilty of overexuberence at the expense of completely rigid following of the rules. I have little flag napkins at the 4th BBQs that I throw, I have little flags on the cars, etc.

Phil Ca: 10-15 years from now he's going to look back and wonder what the hell he was doing...

MikeIseJ: thanks. :) this is only one person, though. i think they want to make a "muzzle loader" more for fun than "shooting up that bitch in school"... but..they can't wait, what, 3-4 years to buy a rifle, or go to a range? that is what i do not know.

i don't believe thier project will ever work(read- be started), maybe i'll get a muzzle loader kit for his 18th along with money for a permit.... on second thought... maybe i won't. haha.
