I ran across these two Miroku flintlocks and decided I needed them. They spark, I think that's a good sign. I guess I'll make up some 4f and give them a try. Balls! I may need balls. Anyone have one of these?

Very nice, but if you would put a decent flint in it like a English or a Rich
Pierce hand knapped, it would spark a lot better and longer. Nice Pistols.

What, were they lying in the street or something? Just joshin'. Nice brace of pistols you have there MCB. What caliber are they? I agree with kwhi43. get yourself some real flints. Agate works but flints is mo' betta!

I wonder if those have the 3 groove rifling with a tight bore that measures under .45 caliber? If they do then you might want to use .433 patched balls because .440's will be a little too tight even with a .010 patch.

Needing new flints is an excuse to drive down to my favorite bp shop. These drives tend to be costly. Flints, balls and 4f on my list. It seems every other trip I come home with a new gun, I didn't last time.

I never fired a flint pistol but I only use 4 F in my pan and 3F shooting my rifle I am going to try 3 F in pan next time I am out

Are pistols that much different.

This is 7F in the pan. My Flintlock pistol is a little different from yours, but
both styles have their place. I always liked your style.

Blondy had a trigger that would hang up so I took both of these apart and did some in-letting, clean and lube, waxed the wood. Major improvement on how they feel. The hammers fall with authority now. I was going to sell these but now.....

Just had a thought

And figured I better write it down before I forgot it.

Why not try to find two triggers that don't look like they are stamped metal? Then carve some more relief in the stocks around the locks, like old pistols have. Refinish both so that they look the same. Get a belt hook for each. You could have a nice project there!

The Doc is out now. Your bill for this advice will be in the mail.

PS, good thing those aren't brass frames, or they would have melted by now!
:D:evil:
