Why is Flitz Paste Metal Polish so bleeding expensive? I went to Midway USA and it's going for $17.99 for a 5.29-ounce tube. What does this stuff do other than make something shiny? Does it remove scratches or merely polish? What does it do that Semichrome doesn't?

Whatever it does, it seems a bit expensive. Are Midway's prices fairly competitive?

Thanks!

P.S. -- When I did a search on Amazon.com, at the bottom an ad offered me a fabulous deal on RosettaStone software that would teach me...are you ready? Polish.

'Cause it'll last for years.

No, Midway's pricing is not always competitive. I got my last tube of Flitz at the "As Seen on TV" store in my local mall -- for about $14.00 for the 5.29 oz. tube (which should last for a few years of regular use). I use Flitz on all my bright stainless steel handguns (S&W revolvers, Colt's and Springfield Armory pistols). It works fine, and does in fact remove minor scratching.

Yeah, the Simichrome works okay. Haven't tried the Mother's (but I use their California Gold car wax) ... Flitz is made for use on stainless steel, unlike other metal polishes that are designed for use on chrome, copper or aluminum.

Mothers Mag polish & Mothers Billet polish did this one for me.
No tools or dremels, all by hand.
FYI: The billet polish aint cheap either.

MSRP is $23, so I guess Midway's price in okay. I buy mine locally at the Scheels store for $14. A 5oz bottle last me a few years.

It works great...

Flitz Metal polish at Doit Best Hardware - 6.49 for a 3.4 oz bottle. Will last a long time. Works great on stainless.
I had some small places on a 617 Smith that I bought. About 3 minutes and a little Flitz, they small scratches were gone.:D
