For sure, you can't go wrong in the glovebox or center console; furthermore, it can be loaded, as long as a lid, cover or something else has to be lifted or unfastened in order for you to gain access to the firearm. Florida case law has clearly established that in addition to a center console or glovebox (neither of which is required to be locked), an unlocked suitcase, a shoebox with a lid on it, or a zippered case will suffice.

What part of "not readily accessible for immediate use" do you find difficult to understand?

I understand and sympathize with your desire to find a way to carry a weapon that is available for use as a weapon if it should be needed. However, the laws are set up to make that option unavailable for those who do not have a permit. That, as my Zen teacher used to say, is what is. Ignore it at your risk.

simple solution, carry a pistol gripped 12 ga in your vehicle with a cable lock on it. That's what I did when I was 18. Granted, I was also in the military and carried and worked on things much more sophisticated at the time.

So if you need the firearm in a split second you have to unlock the cable. Not too mention, that with a shotgun in plain view you will not get very far in an urban setting. Few legal cases (according to Gutmacher) suggest that it might be legal but you will definetely end up in court in order to find it out.

Bottom line: stay away from shotguns in a car (unless in a trunk or in case) for you will get little benefit and a lot of "headache".
