What do you guys in Florida have to do, by law, when buying a handgun from a private party Floridian? I assume that if you bought it at a gunstore that the mandated Fed paperwork gets filled out but is that needed for private transactions? My daughter is looking at a buying a Kimber from her friend and I want to make sure she stays legit, thanks guys.

That's about it. For her own piece of mind, she should make sure the gun isn't stolen, and that she has something in writing to show that she bought it legally, but it's really not necessary.

If they are both florida residents she needs to hand the person money and they hand her the gun. In florida it isn't required to do anything. Personally I add one step and call the sherriff to run the serial to confirm it's clean. Some people like to right a bill of sale but I could care less.
