Flying to Connecticut with a Firearm

I made a post about this in the past, but I still am not sure about the answer. I have searched the Internet, thoroughly, and still cannot find anything. Surprisingly. This site is such a great resource, I figured I would try asking you good people again.

I wanted to travel to my mothers house this summer, and bring one of my handguns, which is legal, and the magazine capacity is legal, in Connecticut. However, I do not know if I am legally allowed to bring it to Connecticut. I have read that you can drive through any state, but if you get out and stay somewhere in, say Connecticut, this is not lawful. So I was wondering if it is therefore illegal for me to fly to CT and have it at my mother’s house while I am staying there. Any help and assistance is greatly appreciated; thanks in advance.

CT does not honor any other states license, and a license is required.

I lived in CT for two years, left 9 years ago.

At that time non residents who worked there could apply for a carry permit, but so many laws have changed since then, I don’t know if that’s still true.

That’s what I was leaning towards in terms of the research I tried to do. Thank you for the feedback.

CT does issue non-resident permits through the state police, and you definitely need a permit to possess a gun in the state. Fortunately for me, I got my CT permit while I lived there, and as long as I don't let it expire, I'm good for the duration.

Having it in the house with you as an unlicensed out of stater seems like a no go to me. Luckily, unless you are in one of the big cities, everywhere else is pretty safe.

Even if possession in your mother's home were legal, transporting from airport to her home and from her home to the air terminal without the required Connecticut permit appears to be prohibited.

I hope someone will correct me if this is not accurate. Otherwise, I will close this thread shortly to keep things tidy.

To get clarification on Connecticut transport law you could call CT DPS and get you answer straight from the horse's mouth.
