A friend gave me some old 1952 fn ammo. Does anyone know if it's corrosive? I can't tell if it's boxer or berdan.

Shoot it, swab out the barrel with Windex (Ammonia type), then clean that out and oil it. Better to not take the chance, but still enjoy shooting the stuff.

You can clean it with just dish soap and water, or even bar soap, I use Ivory Snow soap flakes. You cannot "neutralize" corrosive salts. They have to be removed. This has been discussed in detail in the Blackpowder forum. Just be sure the water is warm so that it will dry fast and then follow with a water displacing oil. I also use Ballistol at the range when there is no water to be had as it is one less thing to carry. You can even dilute that stuff with water, it works great.
