Ok...I have looked (hit search THR) on this forum and a couple of others.

It would appear that FN is now offering their CL, 1 in 7 twist, CMV barrel for sale to a few different AR assemblers.

Does anyone know...Is this the same much lauded FN, AR barrel? High quality, heavy CL, that is used in the SAW?

These barrels seem to run from between $200.00-$250.00 (sometimes a bit lower, on sale) depending on the company that you purchase from.

It would seem to me, that a FN made, CL, 1 in 7 twist barrel, is pretty hard to beat.

Does someone have any experience with FN manufactured barrels?

PSA is selling FN barrles, here is a description and it claims it's "machine gun" steel.

Barrel is made of a proprietary blend of Hammer-Forged chrome molly vanadium "4150" alloy made by FN that is referred to as "Machine Gun Steel" by virtue of its use in FN's M249 and M240 weapons. The hammer forging process work-hardens the steel, making it more durable. In addition, the chrome process for the bore allows for a lining almost twice as thick as a standard M16 for enhanced durability.

Chambered in 5.56 NATO, with a 1/7 twist to allow effective use of heavier grain bullets. M4 barrel extension for enhanced feeding capability under high rates of fire, and a mid-length gas system. The Special A2 Light profile starts with a traditional a2 profile and lightens it, between the gas block and muzzle, for greater mobility.

Barrels are Mil-spec phosphate coated to withstand corrosion and are individually high pressure tested and magnetic particle inspected to ensure quality and reliability.

PSA ran a Columbus Day sale and was selling these as a 14.7 pinned upper less BCG for $250. I have one coming...waiting...
