I have posted this question on another site but i hope you can help me here. I bought this firearm NIB and it came with a LEO magazine marked Browning BDM. The shop/person informed me that he two that he did not sell to the PD so we worked out a deal. I like the weight of the pistol and wanted a 9mm in Hi-power configuration. The DAO trigger is stiff but i guess it needs to be with no safety. As, i understand the idea is to make it favorable for a transition from wheel to semi auto. Also, it has been adopted by European PDs. Does anyone know if the Hi-power grips will work on the weapon?

BTW any information additional information will help, i went to Herstal website but there wasn't much help there

Well its not a true DAO trigger style. The BDM's came two ways...the first were Switchable from DAO trigger to a Trad DA style trigger. If it has the DAO capability then it HAS to have the switch. Look on the left hand side of the slide and youll see what looks like a slotted screw. This is the switch, turn it and your trigger will change styles.
Later guns had the switch dropped....so I dont think this is what you had.
The BDM is the thinnest double stack 9mm made, at least in the grip.....very nice.
I wouldnt know if its been used by Overseas Police, the gun was introduced in the states for sale just as the Ban hit in the mid 90's. This brought out all kinds of little guns, Kahr etc and the size and lack of capacity with the BDM is what killed its production. When people think of the Hi Power they want the SA trigger.....Its actually not a Hi Power in anyway. BDM stands for Browning Dual Mode" as in the switchable trigger style.

Shoot well..........Heres a link for you.Browning BDM

PCRCCW, thank you for your quick reply and the website. Including the top model and the two pictures below it, mine is the third from the top. It's labled FN HP-DAO / Browning BDAO - current production DAO model. This particular unit is marked {[ FN Herstal Made in Belgium ]} on the slide and {[ Imported by FN Manufacturing Inc, Columbia, S.C. ]} on the frame. I know that FN is supposed to be making AR 15's in an old Winchester plant for the military, the 20" A2 model not the M4, but that is another topic. According to the website it's supposed to have a magazine capacity of 14. The unit, although NIB, only had the one Browning DBM 15 round postban LEO only mag with and paperwork. The weapon funtions flawlessy, never the slightest hiccup. You are right about the narrow slide. At the muzzle end it's a little wider than my finger and i have relatively small fingers. The grip's are one piece with the screw in the back. I removed the grip and there in no provision for screws on the side so i guess i'm out of luck. Again thanks, and if you have any further information, please share it with me.

I went to your website and you have some fine looking leather.

Does anyone know if the Hi-power grips will work on the weapon?
If your FN HP-DAO is the similar to my FN HP-DA:

FN_HP-DA_small.jpg

then regular two-panel Hi-Power grips will not fit, as the grip on the DA/DAO is a one-piece wraparound unit.

Edited as I thought this gun was a BDM Browning, not an FN HP DAO....

As far as the FN HP DA....Thats not really a HP either. Just FN's version of what they thought it should be with a DA trigger.
It says HP on it but there in nothing in common with the current SA HP's they make.

Shoot well.........nice gun.
