FN PBR Patrol Rifle in .308 20 inch barrel.

http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/884/products_id/411538545

is $739 a decent price, good price or great price. Who has one of these and how does it shoot. sub MOA or less?

FN PBR XP Patrol Tactical Bolt Action Rifle • .308 Winchester • Olive Drab Synthetic Stock • Cold Forged Medium 20" Fluted Heavy Barrel • Controlled Round Feed with Claw Extractor • Drop Free Floorplate • 9lb. Empty • 1-Piece M1913 Mil-Spec Scope Rail • Full Length Aluminum Pillar Bedding MSRP $1278.00

Seems a bit heavy.

I'm pretty sure CDNN only has the Control Round Push Feed actions left in their patrol rifles. This is the most recent design of there actions and I haven't heard anything spectacular about them. I would go with the rifle on Buds' with CRF. After you can save up swap that barrel out with a Krieger.

I like mine allot! I have the 20 inch xp with the fluted barrel. I had the trigger adjusted to about 3 lbs and then handloaded some match ammo. I got my first sub moa groups with this rifle.

I like the 20 inch barrel for hunting.

I would check CDNN you may save some money over Buds gun shop price. I think I paid $699

Isnt' that basically a Winchester 70 action with a chrome lined barrrel & a Hogue stock? Correct me if I'm mistaken..

I have one of the older PBR rifles in .308 and I love it!
Mine likes A diet of 125 grain Sierra Spitzers and yes it will shoot 1/2" grooups at 100 yards.
I gave it a little woods time last weekend and took this doe with a heart shot at about 175 yards.

I bought one off this board for $725 with the detachable magazine so that is a good price. I haven't done much load development but mine has turned in a few 0.3-0.5 MOA groups. With most loads it is sub-MOA.

I ordered mine from CDNN. They offer versions with both push feed and true CRF. Mine was the 20" CRF version with floor plate. They also offer the detachable mag version. I caught mine at a time when they were offering free shipping so I got mine for $725, including the transfer fee.

I've not shot mine a lot. It came in during deer season and I 've only had it to the range a couple of times and have less than 50 rounds through it so far. Accuracy is mediocre ( around 1" or slightly more) with most of the 150 grain hunting loads I tried in it. With 168 grain Federal match I usually get groups around 1/2". I bought some 168 grain match bullets and have been loading them and I am getting the same. I tried 1 group of 3 shots on the last outing at 200 yards and put them into a 1/2" group so I feel it has the potential to be a real tackdriver.

Now that I am through deer hunting I'm going to lighten the trigger a bit, its curently at at least 5 lbs. and start really shooting it.

This gun from Impact guns has all of this except a Mcmillan A2...yeah solid rifle.

I would think a 20 inch version would have one heck of a muzzle blast.

My 24 inch version is smooth and slick. I like it. Yes the stock is a Hogue stock. The action is slick and smooth, the stock is grippy.

If you get the box magazine version, get an extra magazine. I don't like the magazines, they cost $50.00 and cut my fingers when reloading. Also have the problem of when cartridge slides out the back when loading, I cut my fingers trying to clear the jam.

I really wish FN would get off their butts and offer a ten round magazine.

I like the PBR action, I bought one for a project. I have not dropped in a Jewel trigger, but I think the older Timney's and Jewels will fit.

I really liked the original M70 trigger, which is in these PBR actions. This trigger is very reliable and hard to gunk up. It takes a gunsmith with a machine shop to get the thing to zero creep , sub 2 lb pull and no sear over rides. Target shooters always replaced the factory trigger, but for a field rifle, the trigger is an excellent design.
