I have a FN SLP on the way and I have a few questions.

I believe this shotgun comes with 2 chokes - Mod. & IC, is one more suited for slugs and the other buck (& if so which is which)? & is there any other chokes I should look into for this intended purpose?

From my research it seems that the light piston is basically for all 2 3/4 shells, while the heavy piston is for the 3". Is this correct?

Not that I plan on doing it, but what damage (if any) would result from firing hot 3" shells while using the light piston?

Since this will be a HD weapon, can anyone who operates the SLP or X2 recomend a reliable brand/shell that cycles & patterns well in this platform?

You might want to check out the forums at brianenos.com, under the 3-gun/shotgun section. The SLP is becoming a popular gun for new 3-gunners and there are several threads about it there.

I recently picked up an FN SLP Mk II, 22" barrel, for myself. I can tell you this is one of the best performing shotguns I have ever used.

There are two pistons, one, the "heavy" is for 1 1/2 oz loads and above and the other, "light", is for below 1 1/2oz.
I use the "heavy" piston for 1 oz and above slugs and buckshot.

I recently shot a few rounds of skeet with the light piston installed and it ran 100%.

As far as chokes are concerned I use the Improved Cylinder and leave it installed, even for skeet and clays, which is less than ideal.

Your owner's manual will have all of this information and more. Be sure to read it at least twice.

I have a few hundred rounds through this shotgun and couldn't be happier with it. It's soft shooting, one hole accurate with slugs at 25 yards, and holds 8+1.
It has functioned flawlessly. It's fast gaining favor in competition circles.
