I started a thread asking about the Mossberg SPX, but in my quest for said shotgun, I found a FN SLP, and bought it instead, and now, after the fact, would like some input. I did a search online and got nothing but glowing reviews, but would like to hear from you guys on this forum.

Thanks

I am totally not into tactical, but FN does not have a reputation for putting much junk out there. Not many accessories available, but it doesn't look like it needs anything. Just shoot it and get real familiar with it.

My wife has the SLP 18.5".
It's a Winchester Super X2 with "tactical" sights and that's about it. Very good autoloader, if a bit (a LOT) pricy. I have fired hers a bunch, and with the heavy buffer, it will cycle just about anything. I don't care for autoloaders most of the time, but it's cool. My only complaint is: You can't just open the action and slap a round in the chamber. It locks back and you have to press a button to close it.
Her's was $699 when it was new, but that was years ago. Now they are over $1k.

Good platform, bad choice for clay games and possibly hunting scenarios as posed in your previous thread. The 28" barrel for clays/hunting will run you a minimum of $300 if you can find one.

I still think the elevated front and rear sights are a poor choice for a HD weapon, they are designed to aim, not instinctively point and shoot.

Otherwise a great purpose designed gun that will chug along.
