So I finally got around to putting a few rounds through my model 70 classic Featherweight in .30-06. Its a newer Fn produced rifle, absolutely beautiful gun. Problem is I'm getting light Primer strikes. The firing pin protrusion looks good, I stacked Up some feeler gauges to a height of .058 on the bolt face and cant drag a straight edge (Razor blade)over the pin In the fired position. Where can I find an increased power spring for the newer FN model? I want the reliable ignition my mausers have, and I don't care if the bolt is harder to lift.

Yeah shes clean as a whistle, wolff springs website says specifically their springs will not work for FN made mdl 70s, only in new haven made ones. I may call them anyway, and next FN.

Could this possibly be the ammunition? I ran into a box of Federal 243 a couple years ago that had several rounds fail to fire. Primer strikes looked good. No problems after that box

Possibly, they are full length sized reloads with winchester primers, but they fire just fine in my baikal double rifle. The dents are visibly shallow.

I think I’ve figured it out. The I think the PPU brass has deeper primer pockets than other brass. A quick web search turned up multiple complaints regarding issues reloading ppu brass because of deeper pockets. I havent measured, but the reloaded primers are seated visible deeper than other brands of brass I‘ve loaded. Hope this solves my problem.

Also instead of full length sizing, try sizing till the bolt will just close. Slightly long headspace+deep primer pockets may cause extra annoyance.
If you want some different 06 brass ive got kinda a pile i i can send you.

I have a ruger American in 7.62x39 that was giving me fits for a day or two. Had a if not a identical problem one close.

I was shooting some Yugo and Tula ammunition that was giving me irregular light strikes. In a moment of clarity I tried a few rounds of the Winchester ammunition i had been hoarding for javalina. The moment I switched no more light strikes.

I then noticed the Tula and Yugo ammo had slightly deeper to DEEPLY seated primers. Causing my frustration.

Just a light touch on the front of the firing pin for a bit more protrusion and, bang they all go off now.
