Contained???

"Cambodian officials say that the desease has been contained and that there is no need to worry."

Return of the Living Dead.

If true, there is PLENTY of need to worry. Mosquitos (and viruses) TRAVEL!!

Best/stay safe (Buy "OFF" stock) :neener:

After death, this virus is able to restart the heart of it’s victim for up to two hours after the initial demise of the person where the individual behaves in extremely violent ways from what is believe to be a combination of brain damage and a chemical released into blood during “resurrection.â€

NO WAY! This has to be wrong. This is way too much like a zombie movie.

Time to stock up on OFF and ammo.

That is a beautifully made fake!

All the links work.

Nicely done.

Heh. I've seen a similar thing for CNN where you could input your own text and upload a picture. It looked exactly like CNN's site. The tip off is the url in the address bar.

:)

Stick it in, shoot it out =)

Oh, and click the printable version for the Original article.

"Syrian troops vacate Lebanese HQ"

This hoax is obviously a ploy by the intelligent zombies to make us believe they don't exist. So they can catch us unawares and eat our brains.

Shoot. I started getting my Zombie Cache open and degreased when I looked at the HTML. Oh well. :(

Some day, my zombies will come, some day, my time will come
And how thrilling that moment will be
He'll whisper "brains" and steal a bite or two.

Bigchoad - Other than the absurdity of the article, what gives this up as a fake?
The format of the URL (address).
The link to the fake article - http://65.127.124.62/south_asia/4483241.stm.htm
shows a different format from a legitimate article on the BBC website - http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/4489411.stm

Since the fake showed a different format, I decided to look up the IP specified. 65.127.124.62 shows in ARIN (American Registry for Internet Numbers) as one of Qwest’s IP addresses. They are a US based company and it would be unlikely that the BBC would be hosting with a company that would use a Qwest IP.

Looking in the RIPE (Réseaux IP Européens) database, the European organization that records assigned internet addresses IPs, shows that the BBC is assigned the range 212.58.240.0 - 212.58.240.255.

Great spoof! I especially loved all the valid links.

Thanks for the explanation
I wondered at the lack of BBC in the URL but I'm not real internet savvy

Apparently I'm one of the people Cracked Butt was betting on... My new scope (wooo, illuminated reticle!) for my PSL showed up today in the mail at the same time as my zombie graphic novels from Amazon. My wife demanded a peek through it, then declared that if I hadn't ordered it, she would have bought one for herself. Then she admitted she was lying through her teeth, but still, it was pretty cute.
Seriously though, I have to ask myself, what is it about my job that makes zombie apocalypse seem like a beautiful dream in comparison?

:D :D I think its the overwhelming desire for something interesting to happen that I/you could have an impact on.
That and I just saw Dawn of the Dead :D

yea i was pissed off when i clicked it because i knew it was a fake. i jsut wanted to kill some damn zombies. seriously they would stand NO chance. :D

I think its the overwhelming desire for something interesting to happen that I/you could have an impact on.

Exactly!
I don't want to see something as horrible as zombies, I want to see rampaging hordes of evil monkeys. They actually have problems with rampaging hordes of evil monkeys in some parts of the world.

Other than the absurdity of the article, what gives this up as a fake?

Maddock gave you the evidence that it is a fake. A good and quick rule of thumb is to ALWAYS try to find the article from the other end as well. Whenever i see a linked article that seems odd to me, i go to the front page of the source and try to find that same article from there.
