Following is an excerpt from a recent ISRA newsletter:

Our Lobby Day in Springfield is planned for February 23, 2005. For those who plan to attend, we will meet in the basement cafeteria at the Stratton Building located at the intersection of College and Monroe. Registration will begin at 8:00 am and the legislative briefing will begin at 9:00 am. The most readily available parking is on the south and west side of the Capitol Building. This is mostly metered parking, so bring plenty of quarters. Please dress in casual clothing, but not in camouflage. Plan to be in Springfield until approximately 3:00 pm. In the event of inclement weather, Lobby Day will be rescheduled for March 16, 2005.

I've never been to one of these before, but it's apparently just an opportunity to make our elected officials aware of our agenda and presence and network with them and each other. With 0 anti-gun bills passing in the past 2 years (despite having the most anti-2A governor in the union and Mayor Daley constantly demanding bans), the 'Wilmette' self-defense bill's veto being overriden, and the IL Supreme Court's dismissal of the Chicago lawsuits, I really think the tide may finally be starting to turn in this state. There are severel very important bills (from both sides) coming up this season, and I certainly plan to back up my talk with some follow through.

If anyone from southern IL wants to carpool or needs more information, just let me know.
