Fella's;

We're having some work done on our house, which is neither here nor there concerning guns, but. One of the contractor's whose doing the work got to talking with me about a gun he has, & brought it to me this morning. It's a beautiful Smith 29-2 with the wooden presentation box, and the box has a problem.

The exterior of the box is in fine shape, however the interior is a mess. It appears to me that some substance has caused the blue flocking to separate from the Styrofoam block that has the indentations for the gun and accessories. There's no apparent discoloration or melting of the foam, but the flocking is a disaster. The gun itself does not seem to have been damaged & is not being kept in the box.

Would anyone here know who supplied these boxes to Smith & Wesson? The owner had called Smith himself & was told that if it wasn't the gun, they couldn't help him. Failing being able to return it to the original manufacturer, would anyone know of an outfit that does presentation box restoration?

Thanks for any help possible,
