I am trying find out what everybodys best or favorite add on to their rifle is. By best I mean most bang for buck or most useful something along those lines. FYI not the varmiting ones just the tactile ones. Thank you.

You're seeing a lot of guys going with KISS carbines these days-leaving off the doodads and just having a simple, light, easy to handle set-up.My favorite AR these days is an Armalite midlength flat top with nothing added except for an Aimpoint and YHM flip up BUIS.

You mean other than mags, ammo, and a quality sling? All of those are must haves.

I would have to second HorseSoldier. A quality optic like he mentioned (EOTech, Aimpoint or ACOG). ;)

No RockyMtnTactical I mean everything that can be added to increase quality and functionality of the firearm including slings and mags(I already have more than can be used at one time).

Ok RockyMtnTactical I have seen your webpage before from KSL, I have been eyeballing those slings for awhile.

Trigger upgrades - I have Jard single stage triggers in most of my ARs and they are a huge improvement. I also have one with a CMC and it's a good trigger also, although I prefer the Jards.

I just put a Timney in a new one and I haven't tried it out yet - while I have high hopes I don't think either it or the CMC are what I want in a SHTF gun.

There is a new Geissele trigger coming out in December that I want to try.

Besides triggers, as has been said aiming devices such as Aimpoint and Eotech.

I guess my point is that no rifle is complete without mags, ammo, and a good sling.

Anything else is "extra" IMO.

My TA11 ACOG definitely wins the bang for the buck award... beyond that I would have to go with either the free-float rail or the Magpul M93 stock. I really like the stock.

Good mags and a bunch of ammo for me. You can do a lot of shooting for the price of an optic that glows in the dark, or a float tube that can shave half an inch off machine rest groups. But if you want a Lego gun, that's your choice.

A flat top with BUIS by Yankee Hill Manufacturing GG&G or A.R.M.S. with one of three scopes as options

Low budget a Leupold 1-4x VXII

Medium budget Trijicon TR21 1.25-4 with amber reticle

Not so worried about a budget or job requiring going into harms way a Trijicon ACOG TA11 or TA31

A good light such as the Surefire

Any thing else is just window dressing.:neener:

Mine came stock with a detachable A2 carry handle and free-float rail. So I am thinking a EOTech first the verticle grip and probally/maybe a tac light after that. Oh and every once in a while my buddy at my local store hands me a flyer that offers free(to military) combat handgunning course with a side note on the longun which I was planning on using my AR for.

Hogue grip, vertical fore grip, red dot, and a good sling. The rest is skill witch comes with practice and lots of ammo.

Practice , practice , practice and then practice and then maybe practice again.

Hell is in the details

Here is my Bushy

I replaced the standard grip with an Ergo one and that made a huge difference and I think I paid around $20 for it. Other than that I added an Comp ML2 Aimpoint and a B.M.A.S. flip-up rear sight. Best bang for the buck I would say is the Ergo grip.

After the tour in the sandbox I learned (the hard way) to love the basics , an ACOG is the most tacticool thing I'll buy for my M4gery and an Ergo grip for comfort (almost anything will beat the standard milspec grip in this area). Everything else is just eyecandy .

Personally, I like the standard 20inch flattop rifle with an EoTech AA optic and a YHM flip-sight front gas block/sight matched with a PADS BUIS on the rear...

It's a combination that is hard to beat for rapid engagement times...

A shorter barrel would make it even handier, but I can't justify the hit on bullet performance...
