My LGS has a colt trooper for 225 I think that looks like it was left exposed to some moisture. One side has some significant rust, mostly surface rust. The other side is good and as far as I can tell hasn't really been fired, tight lockup no drag line to speak of and the barrel is good. Anyway I'm going to offer him 175 for it since it's been in the case for a year and the send it to Fords for refinishing in black nickel.http://www.fordsguns.com/index-blacknickel.htm . I'm looking for feedback on Fords service and quality if anyone has used them and also feedback on any other finishes that might bring this piece back to life.

Ford's

I have only used them once, to refinish the nickel on a S&W triple lock.
I refinished the gun only because the nickel was very badly worn, and I mean BAD. I was happy with the results, but it took at least 4 months, and several phone calls to check on the status. At that time, they had lots of reasons ( excuses ? ) why it was taking so long. Perhaps they were just overbooked. I have a friend who has used them several times, and he had recommended them to me. He did let me know I needed to be patient.
This is the only gun I ever refinished, so I cannot compare Ford's to other gunsmiths.
Good Luck.

I'd love to see that black nickle finish. Show us your trooper when you get it back.
