Hey guys,
Just got back from Tallahassee after atempting to go to college. The job market up there stunk so I moved back to the communist stronghold of Broward county.

Anyways I was wondering if anyone belongs to any gun clubs down in this area. Also if anyone happens to know of any stores that have reasonable prices on AKs. I already own an SKS and would like an AK while i still can get one :/

any input would be appreciated

Mr Tom, I live in Coconut Creek. Lee's Pawn Shop in Margate, FL is the real deal. They deal almost exclusively in guns. I am not sure about their prices on AK's, but I just ordered and received a NIB Springfield Armory XD9 for $491 out the door! Can't buy these used for that price. They are really busy and sometimes unable to get help over the phone because they are so busy, but they are worth the effort. Really cool guys also. Lot of LEOs, ex-LEOs, and military guys hangin around the shop and buying guns. This is why it is sometimes hard to get info over the phone.

I don't belong to any clubs, but I know of a couple nice ranges in Hollywood, Ft. Lauderdale, and a really nice one in Lake Worth. Let me know if you want to meet up some time. Don't really have any shootin buddies.

communist stronghold of Broward county

Are you kidding????????

Last time I checked, Broward was still part of Florida and Florida and it's pro 2A governor Charlie Crist is one of the most PRO gun states in the nation.

FYI, Florida's constitution contains a preemption clause. The only change to firearms laws that counties can make are increasing the waiting period and that was done a long time ago. Get yourself a CWP if you don't already have one so the waiting period is a non issue.

Join the NRA, shoot more, you get the picture. Stop whining about Broward County because there's nothing you can do and there's nothing more THEY can do to affect your 2A rights.

Hey sig, lighten up. I think he's making a little bit of fun there. I live in Broward County also and it is indeed represented by extremely liberal politicians at all levels. My congressional district is represented by Debbie Wasserman Schultz who was recently rated as the second most liberal congress-critter from our state. My district is so liberal in fact that the Republicans declined to even field a candidate against Ms. Schultz.

Getting back on topic, Tropical Shooting Sports is a nice club for IDPA matches. Arizona Gun Range on 441 has a good store and a decent, if small, indoor range. They have a wide assortment of black guns and may stock AKs. Pembroke Range (the old American Indoor) is a good place to shoot and has good people running it, not the usual gunshop blowhards. They sometimes have AKs. For rifle shooting you are pretty much limited to Markham Park, a great facility although the ROs can be rigid.

Gun Show 3/14 at the WPB Fairgrounds. Prices there ususally beat any area gun shops.

I live in Broward. Where are the WPB fairgrounds? Is this just a Saturday event, or both Saturday and Sunday? Thanks.

Go see Sharon

Hey sig, lighten up

Ok, I'll lighten up, so noted.

Anyway, if you want extreme fun at a private range contact Sharon at Pop's range in SW Broward. She can be reached via the Florida Shooter's Network forum. Look in the South Florida sub forum. Her handle is Glades aka Range Mama. She runs a private range on US 27 near Sheridan Street. Handguns, rifles, shotguns, whatever you bring you can shoot. Here's the fun part: she lets you bring your own targets, as long as you clean the mess it creates: old propane tanks, fire extinguishers, whatever. A lot more fun than paper targets on an indoor range.

Reasonably priced AK's? Contact the guys at Stone Hart down in Miami. Last time I was there (a few weeks ago) they still had a decent selection. But....the days of $500 AK's are long gone. You are looking at a few hundred more that that now. Good luck!!

BTW, welcome to the High Road!!!!;)

we are in the same district...i live in sunrise

Wow, I had forgotten about Big Al's gun range. When I lived in Miami we would stop in after work and shoot rather than sit on I-95 traffic. I had not thought about that place in years. I used to buy allot of guns at Miami Police supply, but I have not been there in a long time.
